Marketing Tips to Best Prepare for Business After COVID-19

There is no denying that the COVID-19 crisis has impacted all of us. What does Marketing amid COVID-19 look like and what it means moving forward with our businesses. No matter what type of business you currently operate chances are that during this time you have had to adapt your processes in one way or another.

Whether you’ve had to accommodate your staff working from home, alter the layout of your business space to allow for social distancing, take your business completely online, or even take the hard step of laying off your team – almost every business, everywhere has had to adapt to handle this event.

As things begin to shift again and the world gradually begins to come back to life you may be wondering a few things like what can we do to Prepare for Business After COVID-19.

These three questions will help leaders like yourself and your team navigate the next steps.

1.) How can I reduce expenses and increase my returns to make up for losses over the last few months?

  • Streamline sales efforts
    • Leverage your CRM to collect data that can make making business decisions easier in the future (and make your sales people’s lives easier)
    • Equip sales and marketing team with UVP verbiage
    • Build a live inventory list on the cloud so that the team can easily see what’s available

2.) How can I advertise effectively through communication and market in a conscious manner so that I don’t experience any negative PR backlash?

  • Leverage your brand purpose to publically stand for something that is already in alignment with your brand and what it stands for.
  • Keep on-brand (If your brand represents compassion don’t communicate using harsh words or language that your brand normally wouldn’t use.)
  • Use a waterfall effect marketing strategy – for every one piece of content or advertising about the pandemic, alternate with a positive piece that has nothing to do with the pandemic and more about the products or services you sell. More than anything people want to be informed but they also are sick of hearing about it. Here’s where you can take them to a more positive place – they’ll remember you for it!
  • Get an outside opinion. Run it by your brand and marketing consultant before publishing.

3.) What is THE BEST method of re-engaging my customers and bringing them back WITHOUT a high advertising expense?

  • Use the methods you’ve been using all along. This is a bit of a trick question because communication with your customers should not have paused.
    • Email marketing has been a great RIO in communicating with our clients and will continue to be. Continue to update customers on office news, add a lightness to the email – be positive with all communication styles. Email Marketing has made its way from being simple messages between academics to a global academic. In 2019, global email users amounted to 3.9 billion users (Statista, 2020). This figure is set to grow to 4.3 billion users in 2023 (Statista, 2020). That’s half of the world’s population. This statistic clearly shows that email marketing is an opportunity that you shouldn’t be missing out on.
    • Phone calls/text messages. Personalization always wins. start re-engaging through phone and video calls.
    • Social Media Campaigns that engage the top of the funnel along with some services and product pushes. We can start to introduce a small push for products and services depending on the relevancy of your business.

Whatever processes you have in place or ways of doing, it’s time to rethink what those need to look like right now to give you the best RIO on the current state of your business. I hope the Marketing Tips to Best Prepare for Business After COVID-19 will help us all emerge out of the era and into a new one with ease.
